If you're looking for a "hands on" career, with a constant flow of work, becoming a home appliance repair technician could be the right job for you.

Salary Ranges / Job Outlook for Home Appliance Repair Technicians

The demand for home appliance technicians is expected to remain strong, but will grow an average amount over the next decade.  Employment of self-employed technicians is expected to decline because manufacturer's training programs now exclude smaller shops.  This has created an information gap some self-employed techs have been unable to overcome.

The median annual pay rate for home appliance technicians is $30,390 and the high and low range of the scale is $18,210 at the low end and $48,170 at the high end.  Repair technicians frequently make commissions based on the speed of repair.

Advancement in this career usually takes the form of management positions within the organization.  Some technicians become service or parts managers for appliance or tool manufacturers.  Other advancement could include opening a repair business.
