Production Management Schools

Since production management has such diversity in manufacturing operations and job requirements, there is no standard education requirement. However, employers generally search for production managers who have a bachelor's degree with emphasis in business management or business administration. Educational suggestions include courses in business, management, economics, accounting, communication and computer sciences. Production managers must have strong communication, time management, clerical and coordination skills.

Production managers often start out at companies as entry level first-line supervisors in order to gain experience. They may spend the first months of work in the organization's own training program. These kinds of programs make employees familiar with production processes, company policies and other job requirements. These programs may also include assignments in other departments like purchasing and accounting. This is a great way to train and will enhance chances for promotion.
