The standard educational path to becoming a physical therapist assistant is a two year associates degree. There is also some on the job training. Coursework includes algebra, anatomy, physiology, chemistry and biology. Some states require CPR and first aid courses as well. A clinical rotation is also part of the training.
Licensing and registration for physical therapy assistants vary by state. Some states don't require licensing. The American Physical Therapy Association provides accreditation to qualifying schools.
