Training options to become a cardio tech can take several forms. Some on the job training may take place, but most workers employed in this field complete a two or four year program. Certification is available through the Joint Review Committee on Education in Cardiovascular Technology.
Coursework in the cardiovascular technician program includes cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound and various cardiographic techniques. Students with prior medical experience can become certified with only one year of training.
