In order to become a marketing manager, it is usually necessary to have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, though employers will often accept a bachelor’s degree from a number of different backgrounds.


These include a degree in psychology, sociology, journalism, literature, and even philosophy. The exact requirements for a position as a marketing manager, however, will depend upon the individual company.

In some cases, the company will require a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in the area of marketing. A number of courses are beneficial to pursue when interested in a career as a business manager.

These include economics, business law, finance, accounting, statistics, and mathematics. Other beneficial areas of study include sales, market research, marketing, consumer behavior, communication, and visual arts.
