According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, job opportunities for an optometric assistant are expected to grow faster than the average occupation.  This is largely because the population in general will continue to grow, as will the elderly population.  As such, there will be a greater demand for optometrists and these specialists will need the help of an optometric assistant in order to meet the needs of the population.
