A person interested in becoming a radiology technician must first earn either an associate or bachelor’s degree in the field.  Coursework includes classes on the scientific theory behind radiation treatments, as well as human physiology, human anatomy, and research methodology.  Other basic courses required in order to become a radiology technician include precalculus, algebra, physics, public speaking, writing, and computer science.

In some states, a radiology technician must be licensed through an accrediting board.  In addition, the radiology technician may need to certified with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).  In order to be certified, the radiology technician must complete an approved course, meet certain ethical standards, and pass an examination.
