Financial Accountant Training and Education

A financial accountant generally needs to have at least a bachelor’s degree in order to find employment in the field.  In many cases, however, employers require a master’s degree in order to work in the field.  Many colleges and universities throughout the country offer degrees in accounting, though it is also possible to earn a degree through correspondence courses or at a junior college.  Depending on your career goals, you may also need to take the appropriate exams in order to become Certified Public Accountant.  If you plan to work as a financial accountant that reports to the Securities and Exchange Commission, this certification is required by law.
