Forensic Artist Training and Education

In order to become a forensic artist, you need to first obtain some form of postsecondary training in art.  This generally involves obtaining a bachelor’s degree in art while also taking additional coursework in law.  The forensic artist also may take coursework in psychology or counseling in order to learn how to talk with victims and witnesses in order to help them recollect what they saw while making them feel comfortable.  Currently, there are 282 schools that are accredited in art through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, though there are even less that focus on forensic art.
