A forensic artist is a type of sketch artist, which means he or she uses pastels, pencils, or charcoal in order to sketch the likeness of a person. Unlike many sketch artists that actually get to see the person they are sketching, however, forensic artists must draw pictures of people based on the memory and descriptions of victims or people that witnessed a crime take place.
Since a forensic artist is responsible for creating sketches of people that commit crimes, they must also be sensitive to the needs and emotions of the victims they work with. In addition, they have to work closely with law enforcement officials in order to help them solve crimes based on the information and sketches they create.
