A hospitality manager is in charge of making sure operations run smoothly within the hotel. Ultimately, the goal of the hospitality manager is to make sure guests are comfortable and happy with their stay. This requires making sure the rooms are kept clean and comfortable, that the food is enjoyable, and that the staff is helpful and accommodating.
Although hospitality managers are most commonly associated with hotels and motels, some also work in RV parks, recreational campgrounds, boardinghouses, inns, and youth hostels as well. In addition, the exact duties of a hospitality manager may vary from one setting to the next, primarily depending upon the size of the facility. At smaller facilities, for example, the hospitality manager may oversee all aspects of running the facility. At larger facilities, however, there may be several hospitality managers with each overseeing just one specific department.
