Employment opportunities of interior designers are expected to grow faster than the average occupation. This is largely because homeowners are increasing their wealth and, in turn, are more interested in hiring someone to help them make their homes look attractive and comfortable. The median annual salary for interior designers in May 2006 was $42,260. Those working in the architectural or engineering field earned the most, with a median annual salary of $46,750. Those working with building material and supplies dealers, on the other hand, earned the least with a median annual salary of $36,650.
