An MBA, or Master of Business Administration, is a specialized type of master’s degree that prepares graduates for a successful business career. You can earn an MBA by going to school on either a full-time or part-time basis. It is also possible to earn an MBA with a distance education school. In addition, there are different types of MBAs that you can earn, including MBAs that focus on specific aspects of business.
One type of MBA program is the two year program, which really takes two academic school years to complete. This means you will actually get a three to four month break off between years one and two. The accelerated MBA program, on the other hand, does not take as long of a break. With this program, you can complete your MBA in as little as 18 months. If you are working as you go back to school, you might participate in a part-time MBA program. With this type of program, you might go to school on weekdays and evenings, which means it will take threes years or more to complete the program. The Executive MBA, or EMBA, program is designed for those that have been working in a business position for many years. These programs allow students to earn their degree while still working in their managerial position and generally take two years to complete.
