If you hope to be a nail technician, you will first need to complete a formal training program.  Although some establishments will hire individuals without formal training and will provide them with on-the-job training, most prefer those that have already completed the necessary training.  In addition, by completing the training ahead of time, you will qualify for a higher paying position rather than an entry-level position.  Since it only takes a few months to complete the training necessary to become a nail technician, it is certainly time well-spent.  After completing the formal training, you will then need to take a state licensing examination in order to become a certified nail technician.
