Travel Agent Salaries and Job Outlook

While there is not much growth within the travel agent field, those with the proper education and with travel experience will still find plenty of employment opportunities.  In addition, those that prove themselves to be effective will enjoy repeat customers as people continue to enjoy taking trips to exotic vacation destinations.

There are many factors that go into determining how much a travel agent earns each year.  The size of the agency, the geographic location of the agency, as well as the experience and sales ability of the travel agent all come into play.  Therefore, while the medial annual salary for travel agents in May 2006 was $29,210, the top 10% of wage earners make more than $46,270 per year.  In addition to their earnings, travel agents also enjoy fringe benefits.  For example, many get to travel for little or no cost as they familiarize themselves with vacation destinations.
