A career in photography can become a way to get paid for a hobby you love.  Coupled with other skills, particularly graphic design, or skill in photo editing, a lucrative business can be formed.

Salary Ranges / Job Outlook for Photographers

Obtaining a full time job as a photographer is difficult to do.  There are more workers seeking employment than jobs being offered.  With that said, there are always positions and opportunities for innovative and creative photographers.

Wages for photographers are good.  The median annual pay rate is $24,040 and the high and low range of the scale is $14,640 at the low end and $49,920 at the high end.

Advancement in this career primarily takes the form of increased income as over 50% of photographers are self-employed.  Photographers who work for businesses may advance as photo editors or become teachers.
