The main responsibility that sales managers have is to direct a business or organizational sales program. They are in charge of assigning the territories for sales, setting business and sales goals, and securing training programs for other sales representatives.

All businesses and organizations have a goal to market and sell its' products and services as profitably as possible. By hiring professional sales managers and giving them full managing responsibilities, leaders of these firms can focus on their own jobs and still generate enough sales revenue to create successful companies.  In 2002, sales managers held approximately 343,000 job positions in the United States alone.

A broad assortment of educational backgrounds is fitting for various sales management positions.  Employment in sales management usually requires a bachelor's degree in business administration with an emphasis in marketing.

There are many subsets of careers in the sound category for TV and film production including:  audio / video equipment technician, broadcast technicians and sound engineering technicians.

A great deal of technical knowledge is required to be a sound engineer.  A two year Associates degree is helpful in obtaining this knowledge.
